It’s days like yesterday that I absolutely love working on LiveSOMA.com. Before all of that earthquake madness, I was invited to stop by the “A” Lot at AT&T Park to personally witness the raising of the big yellow and blue tent that will house Cirque du Soleil Totem.
In typical Cirque fashion, this years performance looks to be jaw-dropping as indicated by this minute long preview:
“TOTEM traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The characters evolve on a stage evoking a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations.”
For the next month and a half, the parking lot at AT&T Park has been transformed into a huge mobile city. In addition to the giant big top, I witnessed a crew of roughly fifty men and women assembling a massive ‘behind-the-scenes’ lot that included a dining area, an artist tent and a number of other temporary staging areas.I even got to wear a hard hat!
Of course, when I arrived, I realized that I’d left my camera battery at home, so I was forced to capture the moment with my cell phone… how embarrassing, but you can get the gist of it. I hope to have even more coverage next week.
Tickets are still available for much of the month+ run. Click here to purchase.
