Now Hiring: Yerba Buena Community Benefit District
Live SoMa | May 23, 2011 | Comments 4
Finally, a Full Time Job in San Francisco that seems like it was written for me! We received an email from our friends over at the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District, announcing an open position for Director of Neighborhood Partnerships.
Our strategy to find a replacement is to primarily work through our existing networks to illicit some strong candidates, though we do plan to advertise in a few targeted places. Please take a look at the attached position announcement and forward it to your networks and/or anyone you think might be qualified and interested in the position. The application deadline is Friday, June 3rd.
I would bet money that there is not a better person in this Neighborhood for this position than myself. Unfortunately, I don’t have any interest in working a 9 p.m. – 5 p.m. job, even if it is a great fit. I do what I do for LiveSOMA because I love the challenge of building a stronger Community throughout SOMA. It’s not because of all the money that pours in (it doesn’t. At all.), it’s because we’re filling a necessary hole in this Neighborhood. One that I realized just how gaping it was as soon as I moved here.
But it’s not my day job. And the only reason I enjoy doing it is because I can do so on my own schedule. I don’t have to report anywhere at anytime, and it’s that flexibility that allows LiveSOMA to flourish. If there was a way to become Director of Neighborhood Partnerships for Yerba Buena without having to do so from 9 p.m. – 5 p.m., I would apply in a heartbeat. But since they’re looking for set hours, I’ll defer to you, my loyal and informed readers.

I did not notice that. Apparently they need a spell checker, too.

What is your “day job” anyways?
You mean besides almost full time volunteer for South of Market in general? I’m also a freelance video editor, primarily for a company I used to work for in NYC, but always looking for additional projects if you know of any.
