Over the past couple of months, LiveSOMA has really started to gain some local traction, allowing us to meet residents from all walks of the neighborhood. It’s really great because it allows for better information as well as less pounding pavement when people actually submit things to the site.

One thing I’ve noticed we get a lot of are questions. Questions about LiveSOMA, the neighborhood, a specific location, etc. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this sooner, but we should really start doing a recurring Reader Question Column where we take your questions via email and then scour the streets of SOMA to find an answer.

The most common question we seem to get revolves around local maps. I can’t tell you how many emails we’ve received asking us where you can find a decent map of insert-type-of-business-here.

We haven’t made much noise about it, but we’ve slowly been compiling about a dozen different Google Maps of stuff in South of Market. I know that Google has maps already, but they aren’t completely accurate (though they get better every day), and forget about Yelp! when it comes to maps… it’s just not one of their strong suits.

While I’m not going to issue all of the maps right now, I can offer you a few. The other ones are nowhere near completed. Actually, NONE of the maps are nowhere near completed. It’s just not a high priority, though I try to tackle the project whenever I have some downtime.

Anyway, if you ever need a map of the SOMA neighborhood on your phone, or at home, I would like to invite you to check out  the following, which might help you find a place to eat, drink or entertain clients in the neighborhood. I intend to update as frequent as possible. Feel free to save them, share them, and use them however you’d like.

In addition, Here’s a pdf map of the Yerba Buena Neighborhood that we handed out at the Yerba Buena Neighborhood Fair last October. If you work for one of the residential buildings or hotels around the Yerba Buena Neighborhood, and you would like to give that pdf out to guests so they can explore their surroundings, shoot me an email because we have about 1,000 of those left from the fair and we’d be happy to drop them off to get them out of headquarters.
