Spend Your New Years Eve in SOMA!

So now that Christmas has passed, it’s time to focus our attention to the often-underwhelming amateur night that is New Years Eve.

Here are some of the more interesting dining-related events we’ve found happening right here in South of Market…

For starters, if you like clubs, you’re probably better off checking out the SF Weekly. If I were to be dragged to one of the club events, it would undoubtedly be the Better of New Years Event at 111 Minna Gallery… that’s just my $2. 😉

New Years Eve: Dining (Restaurant Specials)

Bar Agricole (355 Eleventh Street)

The Passion Cafe is hosting a relatively affordable Prix-Fixe event for only $59 per person. That price gets you a Five Course Prix-Fixe as well as live performances by Quinn Deveaux & the Blue Beat Review.

Perry’s Embarcadero (155 Stuart St)

Unfortunately, I don’t always get a ton of information from the restaurants, so this one is a little less descriptive than some.

New Years Eve we (Perry’s) will be open all day (7:30am-2am), offering our regular breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, in addition to New Years Eve menu specials. We will be serving food until 11pm and the bar will remain open until 2am.

New Years Day we will be open for Brunch beginning at 8:30am-2:30pm. Bar Menu & Dinner available until 10pm.

Sorry we don’t have a menu or any specials that will be featured, but you can check out Perry’s Website here for more information, or go here for reservations.

Prospect (300 Spear St)

This New Year’s Eve, Prospect is offering a special prix fixe menu (which you can view here) from Chef Ravi Kapur, champagne toasts and party favors.

  • First Seating: 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. – $85 per person.
  • Second Seating: 8:15 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. – $105 per person (includes champagne toast at midnight and party favors)

They also asked me to note that an a la carte menu will be available for walk-ins in the bar/lounge/community table area.

Spire Restaurant & Bar (685 Third St)

Our friends at Spire Restaurant & Bar are having a delicious, five course Prix-Fixe, featuring Grilled Creekstone Hanger Steak, Seared Diver Harvested Sea Scallops or Poached Farm Egg, Anson Mills Polenta as the Main Course. You can check out the full menu here. Did I mention the second course? Chanterelle Mushroom Soup. I don’t know why, but that sounds amazing.

The Prix-Fixe at Spire also includes a complimentary glass of Glass Brut French Sparkling Wine. To make a reservation, head over to their website here.

Thermidor (8 Mint Plaza)

The Classic American Cuisine Restaurant is hosting a Four Course Prix-Fixe with six different seating options:

If you can’t find something you like on that list, perhaps you should stay in and watch Snooki drop from the ball; thus signifying both another year passed, as well as where we stand as a Nation- having Snooki be relevant enough to be a part of the celebration.

Have a Safe and Happy New Year, everyone!
