Balls Are Flying in SOMA Starting Today…

“Big Red” Balls at that. You may have seen this article in the Chronicle yesterday morning, saying that the Transbay Terminal Demolition is set to start this morning.
At 8 a.m., Big Red will raise, then drop, a rusty tear-shaped wrecking ball on the front of the 71-year-old Transbay Terminal, continuing the demolition work that started soon after the last bus departed the station Aug. 7.
We received an email from the Transbay project team that states a change in the 8 a.m. timing:
Due to a change in demolition preparation activities, the first historic drop of the wrecking ball will now take place at 10:00 AM at the old Transbay Terminal building at First and Mission Streets. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you there.
Is anyone planning on going to the Demolition kick-off? If so, feel free to send in your photos so we can share them with the ‘hood.
****** To view out photos of the current “pre-demolition” Transbay Terminal, here’s a post we did from last month. ******
