Look! Up In The Sky! (Don’t Forget To Cover Your Ears!)

If you hear roaring thunder on your lunch hour today and tomorrow, it’s not scattered thunderstorms. It’s probably the Blue Angels practicing their routine and surveying the land for their upcoming San Francisco Fleet Week Airshow Appearance.
Hopefully this year, they’ll actually fly in the show. Last year, you may recall, they opted out of their performance due to high winds and low visibility near the Golden Gate Bridge. That’s not to say you can’t see some of their cool stunts and low level flying during their practice hours.
If you live or work down near the waterfront, take a walk down to any pier around 2 p.m. and you’ll get some pretty impressive views of the world’s best pilots in action. Even if you don’t go to the waterfront, they still spend a few hours flying all over the City.
Last year, I took a walk to the waterfront for their Thursday practice, and it was pretty awesome (you can check out the photos here). On Friday, I didn’t even need to leave my apartment, and I could see them from my balcony.
The best place to watch them fly? Check THIS out! Unfortunately, you need to know someone who will give you access to the Bay Bridge. If you know anyone, let me know as I’d LOVE to sit up there anytime, even when the Blue Angels aren’t flying overhead.
