Another Forum Tonight for “Top” Candidates in District 6

The folks in South Beach and Mission Bay have once again decided who the important candidates are for yet another “Top” Candidate Forum tonight at Genetech Hall’s Byers Auditorium in UCSF. Shamelessly neglecting four other candidates who have seen a lot of recent exposure throughout the neighborhood, tonight’s Forum looks to reiterate that those candidates don’t matter.

I’m going to choose to ignore this issue today, and focus on the Candidates in attendance. After all, the other four candidates don’t have enough funding for me to consider them relevant, and other than a small ripple at the last forum, nobody in this District seems to care either way.

Fortunately, the good news is tonight’s Forum is NOT RSVP Required, so it’ll hopefully feel like an open, community event where nobody will be turned away at the door. It’s also the first Forum in SOMA to be moderated by someone other than Melissa Griffin as KQED’s Radio Reporter, Scott Shafer will carry the torch. Hopefully he provides a similar wit and lighthearted insight into the Candidates that Griffin has done so well in the past.

Invited Candidates include (shown above, right to left) Theresa Sparks, Jim Meko, Jane Kim, Debra Walker and Elaine Zamora. According to UCSF’s Calendar website, tonight’s Forum will focus mostly on “topics of concern to the residential community.” It goes on to add that all District 6 Residents are welcome to attend.

Doors open tonight at 5:30 p.m. and the actual forum starts at 6 p.m. I’m happy to report that the Forum Organizers have reached out to yours truly to provide video of the Forum, so stay tuned in the days to come. If you can’t make the Forum this evening, we’ll be providing all of the important moments right here at LiveSOMA.com. We wanted to stream the event live, but we’re a small, local community publication and it just wasn’t in the budget. My apologies!
