District 6 Supervisor Candidate Corner Introduction

Hey Neighbors,
Chances are you’ve heard about the upcoming District 6 Supervisor Election this November. After attending a handful of Candidate-related forums and Community meetings, one thing is apparent to me; there are a bunch of Candidates, and not a lot of public awareness about them.
With such a wide variety of individuals looking to take a seat at the Board of Supervisors, I felt that it would be fitting if we created a section of LiveSOMA.com that fleshes out each Candidate and what they are running for. Below you will find a page devoted to each individual District 6 Supervisor Candidate.
We sent them all a Candidate Questionnaire and asked them to fill it out, and we’re happy to report that we’ve received EVERY single questionnaire that we submitted. That, in and of itself, says a lot about the dedication each one of these Candidates invests into this District.
They could very easily have brushed off our survey, but they didn’t. In fact, many of the Candidates were gracious and complimentary about the (sometimes pointed) questions we asked. One of the Candidates even said that she spent “several hours” working on our questionnaire because she felt that we asked a number of important questions that “others did not”. For that, I thank you, the readers. A number of the questions in our questionnaire were asked on behalf of reader submissions.
We stand together in this neighborhood, and it shows in our collective concerns. This is, by far, one of the most complex Districts in San Francisco, and there is a very diverse pool of residents who all have their individual concerns about day-to-day life. Therefore, I hope that we focus some attention on these Candidates and what they’re saying. We have an important decision to make this Fall, and whoever wins will have a big challenge ahead. It’s our responsibility to make sure we pick the right person for the job.
Please consider this page, and all of the individual candidate pages as ‘Public Forums’ where you can exchange your thoughts, ideas and issues in an effort to collectively make progress in our neighborhood. We will not censor your comments (so long as they are relevant and not intentionally inappropriate).
From talking with individual candidates, I know for a fact that they would welcome a public exchange with open arms. As a publication that is devoted to “building a stronger community” in South of Market, we welcome it as well.
Best of luck to every Candidate,
LiveSOMA
