Spending Your Easter in South of Market?

Got big plans for Easter Sunday? If not, why not enjoy brunch at many of the fine restaurants throughout South of Market? I was hoping to have more options for you, but it seems Easter- unlike Valentine’s Day- just isn’t as popular of a holiday for special meals.
Actually, if you’ll recall, Valentine’s Day also fell on a Sunday, which meant a lot of places only had Saturday specials since they opt to be closed Sundays. Well, it was no different this weekend. Is there really not a strong demand in South of Market for restaurants to be open on Sundays? I just find that hard to believe!
Here are the restaurants who are hosting Easter Brunch. I personally like the Chaya’s Brunch Menu, which offers a $35 Prix Fixe that includes ‘bottomless mimosas’:
21st Amendment
Address: 563 Second Street Phone: 415-369-0900 View Their Brunch Menu HereThere’s nothing more special about the brunch at 21st Amendment than the fact that they have a brunch at 21st Amendment! I’ve had dinner here a couple times, and I enjoy most of their brews (I even buy them by the six-pack at Whole Foods), but I must admit that until the other day, I never knew they had a brunch!
I’d be interested to check out their brunch. That makes it good news that they’re hosting their normal weekend brunch on Sunday; featuring some classics (Belgium Waffles, Eggs Florentine) as well as originals (Breakfast Pizza featuring Black Forest Ham, Mushrooms, Spinach, Goat Cheese and an egg in the middle). They also have some pretty unique brunch beverages such as the Mead-Mimosa, which features Black Raspberry Mountain Mead blended with fresh orange juice, served on ice with a Maraschino cherry.
Bacar
Address: 448 Branan Street Phone: 415-904-4100 View Their Easter Brunch Menu HereThe more I visit, and read about Bacar, the more I like it. Not only do they offer hundreds of wines paired with delicious food options (that often change daily), but they are the ‘restaurant to beat’ when it comes to how they prepare for Easter. Not only do they offer a Prix Fixe (4 course) Easter Brunch for $36 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in addition to their regular Brunch Menu (which changes every week), they’re also having a special (4 course) Easter Dinner Prix Fixe for $46 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. I wish more restaurants in the City recognized the value of Easter (and other holidays) as much as the folks at Bacar.
The Chaya
Address: 132 The Embarcadero (corner of Mission St.) Phone: 415-777-8688 View Their Easter Brunch Menu HereAs I mentioned before, this is the Easter Brunch I like most. It’s a 3 course Prix Fixe with bottomless mimosas for $35. They also have an impressive collection of options ranging from French Toast to Ahi Tuna Tartare, Chef’s Selection Sushi Sampler to Mushroom & Spinach Omelet with Foie Gras and Black Truffle Sauce… and everything in between!
They even have a $15 Prix Fixe ‘Young Adults Menu’ for the kids!
Osha Thai
Address: 311 Third Street Phone: 415-896-OSHA (6742) View Their Normal Lunch Menu HereThe new Osha Thai location on the corner of Third and Folsom contacted me and mentioned that while they aren’t serving a special brunch menu for Easter, they will be open on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. They will be offering their normal menu (see the link above), and it will be business as usual.
Perry’s
Address: 155 Steuart Street Phone: 415-465-9500 View Their Brunch Menu HerePerry’s down on the Embarcadero, will be serving their traditional brunch this Sunday. The menu is pretty decent in size as far as brunch menus go. They pretty much have something for everyone, as well as a variety of brunch cocktails and appetizers. I personally would order the Tortilla Scramble with tomatoes, onions, green chiles and pepper jack cheese. That’s right, I prefer my Easter Brunch with a kick!

Hopefully whatever you’re doing this Sunday, you have a great day! If you know of any other Easter Brunches in South of Market that are not listed here, please feel free to add them in the ‘Comments’ section below. I was limited to my own local knowledge of restaurants, as well as those who responded to my inquiries and provided menus for Easter Brunch.
If you don’t see something that you like, there’s also this list of Brunch restaurants in South of Market in our SOMA EZ Directory, however, I have not heard if they’re staying open on Easter.
HAPPY EASTER!
