Passion Cafe Brings a Taste of France to 6th Street

I’ve heard from a number of locals that a bright spot on the seriously-in-need-of-help Sixth Street corridor is the new French Bistro, Passion Cafe at 6th and Stevenson. I tried to stop in on Monday, but it was the one day that they happened to be closed since they had their soft open a couple of weeks ago. Tomorrow, however, is their official Grand Opening to the public from 10 am – noon. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by, say hello and check it out!
As I said, many people I’ve met in South of Market have been buzzing about this new restaurant over the past couple of months. I’ve heard that the food is great and the location is stunningly beautiful.
As an aside, if you’re not usually over on 6th Street, it’s one of the more dilapidated areas of SOMA. The Tenderloin is directly across Market Street, and this area is sort of an overflow of that neighborhood.
There’s a local non-profit called Urban Solutions who work tirelessly to build the corridor by bringing new businesses to the area and providing a little TLC. If you’d like to get involved with a good community effort, you should look into their cause and join in the fun! There’s a lot of work that still needs to be done, but from what I’ve seen, this is a great organization to lead the process.
