Bar Basic Now Open in SOMA!

I stopped into Bar Basic last night for Happy Hour and had a brief conversation with the owner, Mike. He’s very excited and optimistic about the new bar. They’re currently open for business, complete with Happy Hour Specials and a full bar, but he said they expect to have their ‘Grand Opening’ in a few weeks. I’ll keep you posted on their opening, but in the meantime, stop in and say hello!

Yesterday I learned that the Gallery Lounge, near the corner of 4th Street and Brannan, has been sold to a new owner. In addition, they’ll be changing their name to Bar Basic. At this point, that’s the only information I have. I stopped by yesterday to see if I could get some more information but they weren’t open yet. There’s absolutely nothing online about the new bar. I’ll keep you posted on anything I find.

It’s a shame because I used to like the Gallery Lounge. It was always a chill place with plenty of space. It was never too crowded, and the bartenders were always friendly whenever I went in. Plus, it’s one of the few bars in the area that feature local artists’ work.
