Authentic Mexican Food! As soon as my wife found this place, she dragged me for dinner.
For starters, you know you’re at a great restaurant when my biggest critique is that I’ve had better sangria in my life. That’s not to say the sangria was bad, I’ve just had better. From there, it only gets better. Their menu had a lot of options that I wanted to try, but I always go for the burrito on my initial visit (and usually thereafter as well). I ordered the “Ultimate Jay’s Burrito” with chicken. The wife ordered the beef chile colorado because she had read that it was the best in town. No seriously, it also says so on the menu!
While we waited for our order, we sipped on mojitos and mexican beer, both of which were a perfect accompaniment to the chips and salsa. When I say that the chips and salsa were plentiful, I mean that neither were ever more than half empty before they were refilled by the friendly staff. They watched our table like hawks, as if we needed more!
When the food arrived, we ordered a couple glasses of sangria. As I said before, it was decent, but not the best I’ve had. In the sangria’s defense, it was competing with some tasty entrees! The beef chile colorado literally melts in your mouth and the ultimate burrito was an explosion of flavor. Because of the bottomless bowl of chips and salsa, I barely ate the burrito (though I tried desperately to break my stomach by stuffing it as full as possible). I took it home and ate it for lunch the next day and it almost brought me to tears at how great it was. If you like Authentic Mexican food, I highly recommend Don Ramon’s.
