Fourth Street Bar & Deli is a local sports bar with multiple televisions and bar food selections.  I stopped in a couple weeks ago to watch Game 2 of the NBA Finals.I originally was planning to go to Jillian’s for the game, but they turned me away (for the second time in three days) for a private party.  Needless to say, when I saw 4th Street Bar & Deli, I thought to myself that I had never seen a deli that was a bar- at least not one that I recall.  Why not check it out!

When I walked in, I was able to find a table even though the bar was fairly small and packed.  It seemed like it was a sort of community seating setup in a sense that all the different tables were occupied by people who didn’t know each another.  They were just there to root for (and against) the Lakers.

The menu consisted of the usual bar food which led me to wonder even more why they call themselves a deli?  We ordered the sampler platter and an extra order of hot wings.  Service was fairly quick even though they were becoming even more packed as the game went on.  Patrons of the bar and the seating area were all very talkative and friendly even to people who were rooting against their team.

When the food arrived, it was as you would expect it to be at a bar.  The hot wings were decent except that the sampler platter apparently came with plain wings, which we weren’t thrilled about.  Especially since it also came with chicken tenders.  How much plain chicken can you eat?  The garlic fries were also good, although they’ll never compare to the garlic fries served at both Giant’s and 49′ers games.

I recommend this bar (& deli) if you are new in the city, or if you like to interact with lots of random people.  I had fun watching the game there, and I need to go back at some point to see if the crowd is always as friendly and outgoing or if that was just because of the game being on.  Either way, it’s a great place to watch sporting events.
