Cole Fox Hardware

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve found myself in need of some hardware supplies and Cole Fox Hardware has yet to disappoint.  For starters, I had been searching around for a good hardware store for a while, and it seemed like every hardware store that I came across in South of Market carried everything but what you would expect from a hardware store.

There’s Sherwin Williams on 4th Street and Kelly Moore’s on Harrison- both of which specialize in paint.  There’s also Harrison and Bonini and a slew of others in the area that sell hardware, as in door knobs and other fixtures.  I couldn’t seem to find anywhere that had actual nuts, bolts, tools and other hardware needs.

Since then, I’ve found a few.  None of them compare to Cole Fox Hardware though.  For some reason, Cole Fox has a traditional, neighborhood hardware store feel even though it’s a block or so away from busy Market Street.  Everyone who works there is overly polite and helpful, and they even have a frequent customer discount program that you can sign up for.

I’ve walked by this place a number of times but haven’t had a chance to go in yet.  It seems like an old fashioned hardware store, but I must tell you that their website is rather informative.  Check it out.
